The school was awash with green and gold as students K-12 participated in the National 'Green and Gold Day' initiative to show support for the Australian Olympic Team.

Olympic Equestrian Demonstration

CCGS's Green and Gold Day started with an Equestrian demonstration by dressage rider and CCGS alumnae, Kaitlin Martin (on horse Harry) who provided an insight into the equestrian journey. Kaitlin and Harry performed a dressage routine for students on a temporary dressage arena set up on the school grounds.

Q and A with an Olympian

During the Junior ÁñÁ«¹ÙÍø assembly members of the CCGS Equestrian team had the opportunity to ask Olympian Vicki Roycroft questions about what it is like to be an Olympic Athlete. Vicky shared with students the importance of strength and perseverance in reaching their goals.

Olympics in the Classroom

Classes across the Junior ÁñÁ«¹ÙÍø integrated the Olympics into a diverse range of subject areas and incorporated engaging and dynamic activities into classroom learning.

Year 5 explored the history of the Olympics and discussed the Olympic Creed, Motto and Athletes Oath, before embarking on research projects to create Australian Olympic Athlete Profile posters. Year 3 got creative designing flags, medals and team tracksuits, while Year 4 students examined a range of Olympic sports to better understand the effects of push and pull forces.

Cheering on our Alumni

CCGS was proud to have two incredible alumni competing in the Paris Olympics. Both from the class of 2020, Lachlan Bayliss competed in Football (for New Zealand) and Rhiannan Brown competed in Sailing. Across the school students showed their support with good luck messages and encouragement posters for our alumni athletes.
